How we rank installers

Every installer listed holds a current MCS certificate. We only list installers with a working website, because that's where the rest of our checks come from.

What moves an installer up

• Boiler Upgrade Scheme registration (heat pump pages): +2
• Memberships and accreditations named on their website (RECC, HIES, TrustMark, NICEIC, Which? Trusted Trader and others): +1 each, up to 3
• Brands named on their website: +0.5 each, up to 3
• Links to reviews (Google, Trustpilot, Checkatrade and others): +1
• A founding year or years of experience stated: +1
• Finance mentioned: +0.5
• Also MCS-certified for batteries (solar pages): +1

Ties go to the installer closest to the place. Nobody can pay to rank higher.

Where the data comes from

• Services, brands, memberships, finance, reviews, founding year: read automatically from each installer's website. This can miss things or misread them, so check with the installer.
• Locations: postcodes.io (contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right).
